The geotangent dome on top of the Canopy Tower is an improved variation of the well-known geodesic dome, designed by the famous American architect and inventor Buckminster "Bucky" Fuller (1895-1983). It was used to protect the radar from the elements. To learn more about the history of the Canopy Tower please click here.
A dome is the structure with the highest ratio of enclosed area to external surface area, and one in which all structural members are equal contributors to the whole.
