Kettles of Hawks and Vultures over the Canopy Tower

Twice each year, in October and March, migrating hawks and vultures pass over the Canopy Tower on the way to and from their southern wintering grounds. For days, the skies are filled with kettles of these birds riding the thermals, providing guests with superb opportunities to observe and photograph this extraordinary natural phenomenon. These images of Swainson's Hawks and Turkey Vultures were made from the Tower by guest John Cocanower in late March, 2000.
