In recent years he has made several birding trips to the neotropics including visits to Brazil, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, and Trinidad. Mark has over 30 publications in popular magazines and scientific journals, including Birding, Texas Birds, The Wilson Bulletin, Cotinga, and the Bulletin of the Texas Ornithological Society.
