Coral Scorpion Lizard

The "Galliwasp" (Diploglossus monotropis) is a striking lizard in the Anguidae, a family of lizards that includes such oddities as the Alligator Lizards, Glass Lizards, Galliwasps and the California Legless Lizards! This rather rare species ranges from Nicaragua through to Colombia and Ecuador. About 18 species of this genus are known, most from the Caribbean Islands.
This rare lizard was found near the Canopy Adventure in August 2009 when Arthur Morris came to the Canopy Lodge with a group of ten photographers to conduct a photographic workshop.
